Second reading of Palm Sunday

Jesus Christ, being of divine condition, did not consider being equal to God a desirable prey , but emptied himself by taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men; and, showing himself equal to other men, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross .
And for this reason God exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name; so that at the name of Jesus every knee may bow in Email List heaven, on earth and in the abysses, and every tongue may confess: “Jesus Christ is Lord!”, to the glory of God the Father.

This Sunday is the porch of Holy Week, in which we commemorate the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is vital that we understand the dimension of what happened twenty centuries ago. The Son of God, divine like the Father and the Holy Spirit, became man, incarnating from Mary the Virgin. Being God, he wanted to be like us so that we could participate in his divine nature (2nd Pet 1:4).

If Christ obeyed the Father, in the same way we must be obedient and leave behind everything that distances us from God. Let us accompany the Lord in the processions that run through our streets, but above all let us confess in word and deed that he is the true Lord of our lives. Let us crucify our flesh, our passions. Let us be the faithful apostle who is with the Mother at the foot of the Cross .

Grant us, Lord, to be able to say with you to the Father “let it not be as I want, but as you want” (Mt 26:39).
