Gospel of Holy Tuesday:
When Jesus said this, his spirit was moved, and he declared: - Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you is going to betray me.
The disciples looked at each other without knowing who he was referring to. One of his disciples, the one whom Jesus loved, was lying on Jesus' chest. Simon Peter made signs to him and said: -Ask him who this is he is talking about.
He, who was lying on Jesus' chest, said to him: -Lord, who is he?
Jesus answers: -He is the one to whom I give the morsel that I am going to dip. And after dipping the morsel, he gives it to Judas, son of Simon Iscariot.
Then, after the bite, Satan entered into him.
And Jesus said to him: -What you are going to do, do it quickly.
But none of those at the table understood why he said this, because some thought that, since Judas had the purse, Jesus was saying to him: "Buy what we need for the party," or "give something to the poor." .
That one, after taking the bite, left immediately. It was night.
When he came out, Jesus said: - Now the Son of Man is glorified and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself; and he will soon glorify him . Children, I am still with you a little. You will seek me Telegram Number and as I said to the Jews: “Where I am going, you cannot come,” I say the same to you now.
…
Simon Peter said to him: -Lord, where are you going? Jesus answered: -Where I am going, you cannot follow me now, you will follow me later.
Peter said to him: -Lord, why can't I follow you now? I will give my life for you.
Jesus answered: - Will you give your life for me? Truly, truly I tell you, the rooster will not crow until you have denied me three times.
He had followed him like the rest of the apostles. He had seen his miracles and heard his words. But the heart of Judas Iscariot was in darkness.
But not only he would betray his Lord. The impulsive, brave, daring and very self-confident Peter was also going to deny Christ. The one who seemed like a zealot willing to defend the life of the Sword Master in his hand would behave like a coward soon after.
Saint Peter learned a lot from that. First of all, in his own strength he couldn't do anything but run when the moment of truth came. He learned that only by grace can we do what God has intended for us. And we will do it as and when God wants. Not before. We do not help God to do good in the way we choose, but God allows us to be his collaborators in the way He wants.
Unlike Judas, who ended up committing suicide, Saint Peter converted and confirmed his brothers in faith, thus fulfilling the mission that Christ himself had entrusted to him. Every successor of Peter must first of all convert to God. Without conversion, there is only a carnal Peter, presumptuous, violent when he should not, cowardly, comfortable with the world and finally... traitor.
Grant us, Lord, to trust only in your strength, in the power of the Holy Spirit, discarding all disordered impulsivity in our lives.
The rooster won't crow without you denying me three times
